Another of my recent closet acquisitions is this red chambray top from Old Navy. Maybe I'm a bit late to board the chambray-train, but I'm so excited to add this versatile piece to my wardrobe. Here are 3 ways I'd style it (in both real and dream life scenarios)...

This is what I'd wear to work if business/business casual was appropriate. The chambray shirt is actually a very pretty salmon color, so there's no worry of channeling garland or candy canes.

This is closer to my actual style - a uniform of jeans, boots, and layers. Casual date night outfit? Done, and done.

This is also pretty close to my norm - a strong love of cropped pants, flats, and cuffed sleeves. Add classic touches of a crossbody and scarf, with a bright watch for contrast, and you're ready to roll, wherever your destination.

This might be late notice for everyone who plans their outfits earlier in the week, but I wanted to let you all know that Friday is National Wear Red Day to support Women's Heart Health and Cardiac Care. It's sponsored by the American Heart Association and is a really important cause - did you know that the number one killer of women is heart disease????? I originally learned about this through the Alpha Phi Foundation at my undergrad university, and proudly continue to support it today.

I'll be rocking my Red Dress Pin (get yours here) to raise awareness this Friday, and I hope you choose to participate as well!!

DIY Brown Sugar Scrub

Even though winter has been relatively 'mild' I've recently started noticing the annual dryness in my skin. Instead of shelling out money for a new exfoliant, I decided to make one for myself. It's reminiscent of a treatment I once had at the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa, where I was supposed to have a salt treatment, but was recommended to switch to sugar because it's less abrasive.

Recipe:
Equal parts brown sugar and olive oil (I used 1/4 C each)
1 Tbsp Honey

Mix until all of the brown sugar is completely coated, with enough oil to cover the top (so it doesn't dry out).

I stored mine is a plastic cup with a tight lid, and keep it in my shower. After I've done my normal shower routine, I take about half a tablespoon at a time and use my hands to exfoliate. I always rinse off the sugar, but some of the oil always remains to serve as a light moisturizer. It's been about a week and a half, and most of my dry skin is gone! Obviously I'd love to get spa treatments everyday, but for the price of items already in my pantry, this is the next best thing!
Note: you will need to rinse out/clean your shower so it's less slick - I just spray my shower with lysol after I'm done and let the water run for a minute or two.

Thursday Latelies!

My camera skills are failing again, so this Thursday Latelies will be in list format.

Homemade bananas foster is divine. Rum is optional. We made just the syrup with brown sugar, butter, and vanilla extract and it paired beautifully with vanilla ice cream. Yum.

Last week I saw Memphis and it was absolutely incredible. It reminded me of why I love theater - unpredictability.

Defined brows have made an appearance in my life. Loving this pencil (I think the Dark Blonde shade is too light for me, but was afraid to go too dark and look scary).

Dark chocolate-covered pomegranates are the best work-snack ever. Really, they're the best anytime snack - sweet and tart and filling and I'm usually content with about 3. Delicious and satisfying.

It's been awhile for two things really....
1. Actually taking outfit posts. I've been snapping pics of stationary objects and Ali lately, but haven't figured out a great way to take my own outfit photos. While a tripod and remote are still on my wishlist, I made it work this morning.
2. After wearing my hair curly for about 2 weeks, it was a refreshing change to break out my hair straightener and simplify my strands. Good thing, because this top makes a statement all of its own.

I realized that even though I drink copious amounts of it throughout the day, you may not know that I am a tea-addict. Certifiably insane when it comes to my absolute need for steeped fragrant deliciousness. In the spirit of exercising full disclosure, I'm starting a new feature called 'Tea of the Month!' where (you guessed it) I highlight different picks each month...

January's Tea of the Month: Organic Genmaicha Green Tea with Brown Rice

There is a favorite Chinese/Japanese/Thai food restaurant that my Dad and I frequent where for the last few years they've been serving green tea with brown rice. They literally brew the tea with pieces of the rice so that it is infused with a warm, comforting, nutty flavor. After desperately trying to replicate it on my own and failing (do you cook the rice first, do you use the water to cook the rice, do you steep with tea vs. rice for varying amounts of time) I gave up on my kitchen creativity and started scouring stores to see if anyone had thought to mass-market this ingenious idea. Lo and behold, Whole Foods and Eden tea to the rescue! Now I keep it at home and in a drawer at work, for a perfect midday pick-me-up.

Feel free to share your own tea recommendations!! I'm always looking to steep something new!

Work it Wednesday: Orange V Neck Box Top Sweater!

Whew, that's a mouthful. Why am I bothering? Well, this happens to be the very same orange sweater I bought this week for a steal...in gray. So, here's my DIY-polyvore version, since the beautiful burnt orange seems to be missing from the internet.

Thursday Latelies this week are dedicated to New Year's resolutions. I don't normally plan to make them, because I rarely have definite goals, but this year I feel like a list will provide me a little more motivation.
No video this week, due to a stuffy nose and scratchy throat. Not visually or audibly appealing.

Eat healthier.
Simplify daily life.
Exercise more regularly.
Try and accomplish my DIY goals.
Learn to let things go and be less stressed.
Become more politically aware.
Take time for me.
Drink water.

The overall theme is to think before I act/eat/work/stress/over-analyze/attempt. To take a breath and a step back a bit more often, and really live in the moment. How do you keep yourself motivated and on-track? Head over and see what Bex is loving this week!

Black and brown together has always been off-limits, but if you choose a lighter shade and incorporate a scarf with both colors, voila, instant A! Pinks and reds are too close? Bah, not if you pick highly saturated pieces!! Lastly, I've often heard that mixing bright blue and green makes you look like you're five...well then, it's my 5th birthday and I want a crown! This is my FAVORITE color combo - just the punch of color to wake us up and hint at spring : )

1. I really enjoy symmetry - in art, music, words, and numbers. Palindromes and ambigrams are wonderful.

2. I have never owned a pair of sunglasses for longer than 8 months. I lose/break/drop/forget them, which is why I have held off on buying this pair.

3. My handwriting is terribly messy. I love to write, but am actually ashamed of how even my name looks when signed on cards. So embarrassing.

4. I am both a dog and a cat person, and ignore anyone who says you can't be both.

5. I learned the roman numerals from the song 18 Wheels on a Big Rig. It constantly gets stuck in my head. It starts a 1 minute in the video below.

6. I cannot stand raisins. Or jam. Or toast. Or just about half of the normal foods you'd eat for breakfast.

5. I rarely leave my house without makeup. Years of bad skin have resulted in an ability to perform a full, lightly covered face in under 5 minutes. I'm more comfortable with myself with some foundation on, and that's what really matters.

8. I was born 3 months early and still turned out okay. Pre-mature babies have just as much potential as babies carried to term. Please tell everyone you know concerned about premies - they just need a little extra time under the heat lamps : )

1. If you could go back to high school and tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?
Take it slow. You're going to be in school forever, so savor the other things, like music and drama, that have a limited time unless you choose a career in the.

2. What is your go-to make you feel good chick flick?
I'd have to say You've Got Mail. There's just something about daisies being friendly that gets me every time.

3. Where is your favorite place to travel to?
Anywhere with an ocean. I become calm and peaceful the very second that I hear the ocean and smell the saltwater. It's perfection.

4. What was your biggest cooking disaster story?
Substituting cocoa powder for chocolate in brownies...that were for my boyfriend for our anniversary. I was short about 4 oz of chocolate, and thought, it's not that much, it'll taste fine. We were left with dry cracked brownies that were terribly cake-y and not sweet at all. Just terrible.

5. Worst hair cut you ever had?
When I was younger I wanted my hair cut to my chin in a bob. The stylist cut it to just below my ears. My hair hasn't been shorter than my collarbone since then...

6. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Switzerland, either in the French- or Italian-speaking parts. I'm dying to go back.

7. Where is your happy place?
Near the ocean : )

8. Best memory of 2011?
My trip to Colorado. Not only did one of my very good friends get married, but I had a fabulous vacation in a breathtaking part of the country.

9. Biggest hope for 2012?
Finding balance in my life. Most of the time I'm either stressed because I'm over-worked, or stressed because I feel like I'm moving to slowly and everything is passing me by.

10. Proudest moment?
Being self-sufficient at living on my own.

11. The one thing you must check before leaving the house? {that thing that if you don't check makes you turn around and go back to check :)}
Before I leave, I check for my keys, cellphone, and umbrella about 5 times. This is not in exaggeration. After I leave, I'll go back for lipgloss or my day planner.

Look what came in the mail yesterday!!! This lovely necklace from Leah Hope Mancuso, courtesy of a giveaway from Bex! Isn't it divine?? Just what I needed to brighten up my cold weather clothes : )

These boots are a life-saver. I've had them for six (six?!?!) years and they look pretty much brand new. I don't do Uggs, but these LL Bean boots are study, comfortable, warm, and not stuffy. Get yourself a pair. Pronto.

DIY Picture Frame

Anddd here's what I did with my West Elm picture frame:

Isn't it cute! This was an anniversary present for Patrick that I just got around to doing now...because I ordered extra Scrabble tiles from Hasbro and they just came in! It was based off of this pin, with the original tutorial here and sooo super easy. This is about as crafty as I get, but I think it came out great : )

OOTD: Rain, Rain Go Away!

And so the saga of rainy Philadelphia continues...I suppose I should just be happy that it hasn't snow yet, knock on wood. Hmmmm, any superstitious readers out there? I tend to be a skeptic, but I really do get spooked easily... so maybe I'm not as much of a non-believer as I claim. Once I become aware of what I'm doing I avoid stepping on sidewalk cracks, hear things that go bump in the night, and never EVER will look in a mirror with the lights off. Yeah...I'm a scaredy-cat alright...
I also believe in self-fulfilling prophecies i.e. if you think it will happen, you will subconsciously allow it/will it to occur. This can be bad, obviously leading to hypochondria and fear of pretty much anything you can imagine happening, but I also think it can be a good thing. There is something to be said for the power of positive thinking and goal setting. I'm the kind of person that once I figure our what I want, I'm going to figure out a way to get it. Why yes, I'm smart enough and driven enough to get into grad school. Save money, you betcha. Make that impossibly complex cake AND frost it to match Martha...well, maybe someday. It'll be pretty damn delicious though.
Yup, when I put my mind to it, I'm a force to be reckoned with. Now onto the outfit, taken at the end of a seriously rainy day...

Where did all this sassy-ness come from?? Well, it happens to be the last week of classes for the semester, and I've got a paper due Friday. I'm kicking butt at it and realizing that my slightly secret dream of being an editor for a scientific journal (shhh don't tell) could realistically pan out. Sure this assignment is annoying, but it's also enjoyable, which is a good thing because as an editor I'd be reading, writing, critiquing, researching, reviewing, and putting my own spin on current papers in the field. Look who maybe found her calling....

P.S.- Have I told you about my latest challenge to myself?? Wear one non-jean outfit to work each week! I know, not that much of a stretch for most people, but when you work in a lab it's quite easy to get into a jean-rut so to speak. We'll see how this turns out...

I wore this shirt sometime last week, as an attempt to shop my closet and attempt to put off doing laundry. It's sleeveless and has a high neck which makes it a little hard to style, so I went with my go-to tactic: add a cardigan and big hair. Big hair also helps me to thumb my nose at the poor weather...Oh, you were going to rain today? Well my hair is intentionally messy, so do your worst. For the record, it did.

How I spent my Saturday night...

We went to this year's Winter Beerfest at Union Transfer, a concert venue nearby. There were over 70 vendors and they offered tastings in mini-cups from 6-10 pm! Normally I'm not a big beer drinker, but I got to taste a lot of different types and found some new favorites. It was a great way to spend a Saturday night, and hang out with friends I don't see very often!

Here's my Holiday wishlist:

1. Lauren Conrad's book Style. I think it would be a perfect way to think thoughtfully about what I own and what I need!
2. TOMs classic aviators. These are perpetually on my wishlist - yes they're expensive, but they donate a pair of glasses or eye care for every purchase - win win!
3. J. Crew tee. I am completely smitten with this tee - normally I don't like graphic shirts, but the 'reve' is so divine.
4. Footloose. I AM IN LOVE WITH KEVIN BACON. There, I said it.
5. American Eagle Desert Booties. I've been looking for a pair of ankle boots for awhile, and these meet all the marks!
6. Lancome le crayon kohl. I love Lancome, and their eyeliner is super pigmented and really great for smudging along your lashline. I'll take any color!
7. Baby it's Coal Outside by OPI. This is a matte glitter nail polish. It's discontinued from OPI, but I will stalk it on Amazon if its the last thing I do...
8. Zara leopard sweater. This might seem like the B version of the J Crew sweater...but I like the colors and boatneck.
9. A Kindle Touch. Now that my library has free ebooks for the kindle and Amazon Prime is being amazing and letting you download some as well, I don't feel guilty about having to buy the Kindle AND books.

Work it Wednesday: Dress Capris!

I bought these pants a few weeks ago for a song, but know firsthand that it can be tricky to style capri/ankle/crop pants for winter. I can also say that these are super comfy, and can't wait to wear them more often.

Here's how I'd work them:

I wore a very similar outfit to this on Sunday, at a somewhat surprise party for Mrs. R for her 50th B-day! Luckily it was warm enough (and dry enough!) that I could wear these pants with flats. A bright clutch and some cheery bangles make it complete : )

My Thanksgiving consists of at least two dinners and lots of running around to see different parts of my family. While I have something else planned for this year, I feel like you can be comfy, but still stylish with classic pieces and a bit of glitter!

Even though most of my Holiday shopping is done (gasp! I know) I love the atmosphere/pandemonium of Black Friday shopping. I usually go and people watch more than shop...but you still want to be prepared - crossbody bag for essentials and a thick sweater instead of bulky coats!

Spotlight on: The Monogram!

That's just a snapshot of the few things I had my name/initials on growing up. There's something about seeing my name stamped/embossed/embroidered/or scribbled on something that just makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Here, I present my picks for a more sophisticated version: the monogram.

Danielle Stevens monogram bracelet. Really, really pretty. Delicate, without being too stuffy.

West Elm herringbone throw. I literally own 4 blankets with my name embroidered or sewn to one side. It's alright, though, because none of them are herringbone ; )

U Name it Allure monogram necklace. Talk about your classic look. Pieces like these can cost you a pretty penny, but they also make this more affordable version.

J. Crew Nightshirt. This is perfection. What girl doesn't want to curl up in an oversized nightshirt with her initials stitched at the pocket.

Mongrammed mugs. Now you know which coffee mug gets two sugars and which one gets splenda. JK, we all get two sugars...

J. Crew cashmere scarf. Wouldn't this green color look fabulous with white contrast stitching?!?!

Sterling silver ID bracelet. This might seem strange, but my wrists are very small, so the children's size ID bracelet would be a better fit for me. I'd probably go with a first initial and last name, just for a change of pace.

Longchamp Personalized Le Pliage Tote. This is on my perpetual wishlist anyways, and I most definitely think it's worth getting the monogram. Situated directly beneath the snap flap, I personally think the bag is incomplete without it.

Hello all,

No video today – but it is Thursday afterall, and time to reflect on good things going on and what we are thankful for. If you read my last post, you’ll understand that it’s been an emotional week. I felt a bit guilty for grieving publically, but this is a lifestyle blog so I will keep it as such…

I am incredibly happy and grateful for the outpouring of love and support and shared memories of Ned. That has helped me this week immensely, and shows just how life-changing he was. Sarcastic and a perfectionist yes, but also inspiring in so many ways. Please take sometime this week and spend it with someone who means a lot to you. I was lucky enough to do that recently, and am so glad I did.

On a lighter note, I am almost done my Christmas shopping. I have two gifts left to buy, and one gift to prepare (DIY style) and then that’s it. I wrangle over the perfect gift for people and feel guilty with my limited budget, but I know that gifts are from people, not about things, so that makes me feel better.

I’m slowly on the mend from a stomach bug earlier in the week…and luckily I’m starting to feel better. We’ve graduated from crackers and tea to peanut butter sandwiches, so I’m appreciative of real food again.

Lastly, I’d like to take a minute to talk about the Amazon Wish button. They aren’t sponsoring me, and it’s just like pinning something, but instead of an image, it goes to your amazon account. In Memorium: Ned B. Fleischer

Ned B. Fleischer Fall 2007

Today I learned that the musical director of my college a cappella group passed away unexpectedly last night. He was a cranky old man that conveyed more in a LOOK than many people could in a lifetime. He loved music and teaching, and even after he retired from teaching high school continued to stay on as The Rensselyrics' Musical Director. Three days a week I'd walk into rehearsal to see his tan, leathery face sipping piping hot coffee and working out the school crossword puzzle - no comparison to his usual NY Times I assure you. If he was outside smoking a cigarette I knew we had about 10 minutes, and would often chat about my research, sorority drama, and leadership responsibilities - always my problems, hopes, or dreams.

Freshman year Invitational - it took all of us to corral him into the photo (Fall 2006)

Right after I joined the 'Lyrics we had a concert where I would be the only one on my voice part. My mom was visiting and watched us warm up, and she couldn't believe that he would push me to sing the part by myself to make sure I had it. He then gave me the infamous "Ned look" and said, I guess it'll have to do. She was appalled, but he knew I could do better. When we were onstage and I saw him propped against the doorframe in the back of the room, I knew I could too. The song went fine, but I realized he wanted ME to know that whatever happened, it was up to me. He taught me well - I'll never forget it.

Luckily, I had the opportunity to spend time with him at Alumni Weekend a few weeks ago. Ned, I'll cherish the fact that you wanted to hear me sing my last solo one more time...and I did it for you even though I wasn't warmed up at all and only two other people knew the background support. I spent four years learning from you: music yes, but how to lead quietly, silence someone with a look, and figure out how to choose what was really important in life. I'll miss the sight of your green and black track jacket, arguing with you about your smoking habit, and your retractable SUV key that could cut just as well as your blunt sarcasm. I spent four years trying to make you proud, and having you tell me that you were meant the world to me.

Ned B. Fleischer, you were loved by countless students, colleagues, and friends and we will never forget you. Rest in peace, we love you.

I've been singing the Irish Blessing all day for you Ned...using dynamics, breathing correctly and in the right places of course : )

Does it look a little wind-swept to you? Perhaps more unruly and natural?? I'll let you in on a little secret...I didn't brush it before blowdrying! Because I curled earlier in the week, I knew that it wasn't super knotty. By not brushing it I kept a lot of my natural texture, and while curling it was a bit more annoying that usual (read awkward, not difficult), I think I achieved 'messy' pretty well. Homecoming...Packing!!

I am slightly more than obsessed with making packing lists. This weekend I’ll be going to Homecoming/ Alumni Weekend and I’ve been editing my packing list for two weeks. Seriously, there’s an index card tucked into my planner with pencil marks that have been erased and re-written at least twenty times. I’ve forgotten every major and minor travel item at least once or twice on my trips, so this is my way of trying to avoid that.

First up, what to wear for a +4.5 hour drive:

J Crew Factory striped shirt, American Eagle skinny jeans, black flats

And Here’s what you'll need to have for a 3-day trip to Upstate NY:

Friday: Driving outfit plus belt/scarf/cardigan for later, switching out flats for boots.

Saturday (Apple-picking, socializing, outdoor concerts, indoor concerts): Purple check shirt, black cardigan, skinny jeans, stud belt, and cognac boots. I'll change later when we go out into the black tunic top and flats

Sunday (Brunch, driving): Taupe sweater, leggings (which may or may not be long underwear that I use to ski in...don't judge!), bright pink scarf, boots

Extra Sundries/ Accessories: hair stuff, toiletries, books, little bag of jewelry, PJs extra socks, flip flops and multiple electronic chargers.

Not pictured are my car necessities: gps, charger/adapter for iPod, CDs, water bottle, snacks, sunglasses, gum, umbrella.

As you can see, I like to pack basics that make me smile and can be mixed in case I change my mind about what I want to wear. I’ve also worn everything I have, so I know generally how it will look on me. My motto besides be prepared for terrible weather is to go with what you know works and you feel best in. Sure, I love that new fun top, but if it doesn’t work and you have nothing else…you’ll be sad.

Work it Wednesday: Zara Double Buckle Shopper!

Even though there's a Zara a few blocks from my apartment, I am just as happy as the multitude of other fashion bloggers who can now shop from the convenience of their living rooms. I'm such an impulse shopper that I find it more relaxing if I can go to a store, try on an item, and then go home and debate whether or not I really want it, without worrying that it will be gone the next time I'm there. It really cuts down on my anti-buyers remorse (aka when you don't buy something and then cry when you can't find it).

I've been eyeing this color block tote from Zara, so here are 3 ways I would incorporate it into my fall wardrobe:

Apple Picking (1)

If you're going apple-picking, you need something to carry your apples, right??? Realistically, they give you a bucket or you buy a special bag, but what about your other stuff? Extra hand sanitizer, napkins, tissues (you are outside in the crisp wind afterall) plus cameras and a list of which apples are best for what! Some sort of rainboot/pair of wellies is a MUST, because you'll be reaching for apples and not looking where you're stepping trust me on this one. Also, make sure to wear a long, washable jacket for the same reason (or be less clumsy, but that won't happen for me anytime soon).

Shopping (2)

I'm all about layering when I shop, so I can see outfit potential right away. Where do you store your layers? Why in your tote of course! Also, water bottle to stay hydrated and snacks to keep you away from the amazing chinese food at the food court. Come on, you know you have a mall food guilty pleasure....

Day of Travel (3)

Little, widely-known fact about me: I get motion sick. As in I can't handle the commuter train ride that lasts 20 minutes motion sick. I take ginger supplements, blast my ipod, and wear the darkest sunglasses possible, but sometimes it's just not pretty. Mostly this applies to trains and backseats of cars, so as long as I'm driving or 10,000 ft above sea level, we're all good. Sorry about TMI, but for authenticity...you get to hear about my neuroses. How does this relate to outfit planning? Comfort is key to feeling better, but usually I still need to be somewhat presentable. Cue leggings, oversized sweater, and loafers. I look casual chic, but am secretly oh so comfy. Plus, if you're on a plane you want to have everything you need in your tote at your feet...can you picture me trying to open a luggage bin on a plane? In four words: more than just clumsy.

How I spent my Sunday...

Have I ever told you that I'm kind of a big deal when it comes to pumpkin carving? I'm not so much an expert at figuring out the patterns, but give me something to chip away at or shade and I'm a genius.... Last year we carved Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes (obvi) so we had some pretty big shoes to fill this year...

The one on the left was made by Patrick's sister M. and her friend. In reality it was made by Mr. R with the girls supervising and screaming about pumpkin guts...to be fair, their pumpkin had a soupy center that needed to be drained. Oops.
The one on the right took lots of patience, but I think it looks great! One creepy Cheshire Cat coming up!

Fishtail Tutorial!!

Here's a long and rambling tutorial on how I do my fishtail braid! I chose to make this one intentionally messy, so if you want a cleaner look, just be sure to carefully separate the sections and pull firmly against your head with each braid. Enjoy!

Birthday weekend recap!

I am so very behind on posting this, but here are some pictures from my birthday weekend!!
Note, this will be picture-heavy!

Friday:

On my actual birthday my Mom treated me to dinner at The Capital Grille!! You can see our desserts (so delicious) had just arrived - they're untouched as the waiter took the picture for us!

And now, we skip to Sunday:

Sunday was football day - Eagles game at the Linc with my Dad and Patrick! For October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Eagles gave out 'Tackling Breast Cancer' rally towels!!

Sigh. The view from our seats. Lincoln Financial Field = home!

Eagles v. 49ers

Sunday night Patrick, a few friends, and I went to see Explosions in the Sky at the Tower Theater. They are a post-rock band and the music behind Friday Night lights (see my video from the concert at the bottom of the post)

The Antlers were the opening band. They were really great!

Here is the video. I recommend tuning to 1:30, where you'll get the softer music that may be easier to hear/listen to. This is one of their most recognizable songs.

So there you have some highlights from my birthday weekend! I had a great time, and the celebrations are still continuing!

Work it Wednesday: Striped shirt!

Today's Work it Wednesday features a structured striped shirt that I found at a J Crew Factory store when birthday shopping over the weekend. A classic striped shirt is so versatile, and here are just 3 of 20 million ways you can style it:

Cute and casual (1)

One of my favorite weekend outfits is a large button up and pair of leggings. I always make sure that the shirt is loose and long and leggings are opaque, because no one wants to be self-conscious in such a relaxing outfit. I'm also L-O-V-I-N-G envelope clutches, and living vicariously through these posts. My clutch/wallet collection is too extensive to add to just yet!

Work chic (2)

Classic button up and pencil skirt combo. 'nough said.

Warm and cozy (3)

In case you're also avoiding digging out the winter gear...layer! I wear sweaters year-round, so adding one ontop of your button-up is an easy way to stay warm and not bulk up! I am guilty of re-posting about these red pants...but don't we all want to get the most out of our wardrobe?!?

OOTD: Fabric Necklace!

I received this necklace last week as a birthday present from Patrick's parents. Mrs. R. is super artsy (she does decorative painting for a living) and always finds interesting jewelry pieces. The necklace is actually made of layers of fabric with little squares of fabric that mimic beads and I absolutely love it! I've been looking for a bright statement necklace for awhile, and this is perfect!
